About

My name is Mascha Keersmaekers. I live in Amsterdam in the Netherlands and I have been creating things for as long as I can remember.

I work with a multitude of media and materials, but drawing and painting are the visual language closest to my heart.
After I graduated from Art Academy it took me a while to rediscover my own artistic voice, which has been thoroughly muted by my teachers.
I integrated drawing as a main ingredient into my daily life and after many hours and papers filled with even more sketches, I finally found my way back to my own, most intuitive style.

With my illustrations, I tell stories about the big and small things that happen in the world around us. There is no need to make them up, everyday life is full of interesting and important stories. I use my art to share these stories and gently nudge people to become more curious and aware of all there is to discover in the world.

I have been teaching visual arts in various international schools for many years. Connecting to such a diverse group of young people has taught me a lot about the power of art in sharing experiences and creating understanding.
