Hi! My name is Mascha Keersmaekers. I live in Amsterdam, the Netherlands and I have been drawing and creating for as long as I can remember. 
I have been illustrating picture books for a while, and more recently I have done some more editorial and educational work. I am looking forward to do more of both!

With my illustrations, I tell stories  – whether these are imaginative children’s stories, or real-life important topics. I use my art to share these stories and help develop understanding and curiosity in audiences. If an image says more than a 1000 words – imagine the joint power of an image AND a thousand words together.

At Art Academy I developed my art and storytelling skills, but my own artistic voice became muted by my teachers. After I graduated, I integrated drawing into my daily life to rediscover my voice, and after many hours and papers filled with even more sketches, I found my way back to my own, most intuitive style.

Next to illustrating, I have been teaching visual arts in various international schools for many years. Connecting to such a diverse group of young people has taught me a lot about the power of images in sharing experiences and creating understanding.  When I create illustrations for you, I will put my experience with our multicultural, diverse world in my work, and your product will become richer for it.
